After previous weekends at Blair Atholl and Loch Morlich (Aviemore) the third camping meet involving members from the VW California Club took place at Glen Nevis in late May.  There’s now a regular group of owners who take part, from Aberdeen, Edinburgh and Glasgow and various places in between.

Nine vans came along this time.  I was a little surprised there wasn’t more interest, particularly given it was a May bank holiday weekend.  Events like this in England draw 30-50+ vans and people often drive several hours to attend, making a weekend of it.  While there are clearly fewer VW Californias here than in England, there must be at least 200 or so vans in Scotland and a similar number in northern England  Where are they all hiding ?!

We had fabulous weather and enjoyed a natter and a drink on the Saturday afternoon in the warm sunshine.  Some of us actually used our awnings for a sun shade for once !  That evening we had a really enjoyable meal in the bar/restaurant adjacent to the Glen Nevis campsite, both of which were great.

Here are just a few snaps from the weekend, at the foot Ben Nevis.
